The digital divide in Europe
Access to information and communication technologies has grown significantly in recent years. Nevertheless, a digital divide still exists. This gap is mostly due to a lack of necessary infrastructure and a dearth of computer skills. This edition of Statistics in focus gives an in-depth overview of the magnitude of this divide, and proposes possible explanations for its existence, as well as future perspectives.
