According to International Energy Agency (IEA) projections, oil demand is expected to grow by more than 50% between 2002 and 2030, while gas demand will almost double. The aim of this book is to inform the public on how to ensure that adequate supplies can be tapped in the future. Based on inputs from industry experts, this document presents the main challenges involved in the production of those resources at reasonable costs. It also gives an overview of some of the technologies that are being investigated in the production and transport sectors. It also gives estimates of the oil prices at which various sorts of resources become economical.
