Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

In the design, production and trade of products and services, certification, inspection, measurement and testing are essential. Legislation that has been put in place to protect EU citizens and consumers depends on an infrastructure which secures confidence in measurements and tests used in our daily lives. In this context, the European Commission seeks to provide scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policy-making in this area. This publication describes the co-operation between the Commissions Joint Research Centre and the European metrology, accreditation and standardisation organisations.
