EU action against climate change - reducing emissions from the energy and transport sectors

For the past 15 years, the European Union has been at the forefront of international efforts to combat and mitigate human-induced climate change. As more than 80% of the CO2 emissions are due to the energy and transport sectors, most of the EU�s efforts to reduce its emission focus on these areas. This brochure summarises the Commission activities aimed at promoting increasingly sustainable use of energy and more environmentally friendly modes of transport.
