Thermoelectric non-destructive testing of as-cast Model Steels with parametric variation of Ni,Mn, Cr and Si content

Abstract

Reactor pressure vessel embrittlement represents one of the limiting factors in vessel�s lifetime of today�s nuclear power plant. In order to improve the life and the safety of the reactors, investigation of RPV-steels is a priority for SAFELIFE Action. The present work reviews the results of thermoelectric non-destructive testing (measure of Seebeck and Thomson Effects on Aged Materials, �STEAM�) of as-cast model steels with the aim of determining the influence in the thermoelectric properties of impurities and alloying elements.
