Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Funded under: FP7-EURATOM

The Treaty founding the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) established the ability to pursue Framework Programmes for nuclear research and training activities that are distinct from, and run parallel to, the Framework Programmes for Research and Development under the EC Treaty.
The 7th Euratom Research Framework Programme (Euratom FP7) covers a five-year period from 2007 to 2011 (this is the maximum duration allowed by the Euratom Treaty) but may be extended for an additional two years to correspond with the duration of the EC FP7.
The scope of Euratom FP7 will comprise Community research, technological development, international cooperation, dissemination of technical information and exploitation activities as well as training.
Euratom FP7 is organised in two parts (or ‘Specific Programmes’): one corresponding to ‘indirect actions’ on fusion energy research and nuclear fission and radiation protection; and a second investing in ‘direct’ research activities that is carried out by the Joint Research Centre.
