The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) - Taking European research to the forefront

Funded under: FP7

The European Union's member states have committed themselves to spend 3% of their gross domestic product on research by 2010, and 'FP7' is the EU's main research funding instrument. Furthermore, the new European Research Council aims to fund more high-risk, and potentially high-gain, scientific research.
The priorities in FP7 are the following programmes:
- Cooperation: aiming to foster collaborative research on key technology areas
- Ideas: investigative research, independently of thematic priorities
- People: boosting European research careers
- Capacities: building the knowledge economy
- Nuclear: consisting of two parts; fusion and safety
This leaflet is a quick guide to FP7 - also telling you how you can apply for funding.
