Key Technical Objectives of the Project
(i) to develop a numerical modelling approach to representation and prediction of dynamic rock behaviour, such as rockbursts,
(ii) to improve the representation of coal measure rock behaviour within the numerical codes available and to develop new constitutive models where appropriate,
(iii) to develop a three dimensional strain softening numerical modelling approach to the design of coal mine reinforcement placement,
(iv) to develop a complementary rock reinforcement design methodology based upon a rock classification approach
(v) to develop a seismic method of predicting ground conditions ahead of an advancing roadway, so as to allow pro-active support variation.
(vi) to develop a high speed roadway profile survey tool
