Science communication to non-scientists - Course

Funded under: FP7-JRC

This is the manual of abstracts and notebook of the 3rd edition of the course "science communication to non-scientists". This course aims at outlining the main challenges regarding science communication in 3 different contexts: media, policy making and public engagement in science relevant policy development. The rationale of this course is based on the following ideas: - this course explicitly recognises that different contexts of science communication pose different challenges to researchers who have to engage in such activities; - it assumes that researchers should develop skills of communication as part of their scientific curricula. - it is also based on the assumption that science communication is an activity beyond "one way communication" but a likely departure point to establish dialogues, as well as deeper partnerships and collaborations among the scientific community and society members in general.
