Management and animation of a transnational network - selected experience from the IRE thematic networks

Funded under: FP5-INNOVATION-SME

The 14 IRE Thematic Networks (TNs) were launched in 2001/2002 with support from the European Commission, as part of the Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) network. The TNs bring together between 10 and 30 members from European regions inside and outside the EU, who collaborate during a period of two years on specific regional innovation policy topics.

This publication has been produced by the Innovation Relay Centres and Innovating Regions in Europe Central Unit (IRC-IRE Central Unit). It summarises the experience of the TNs in running and animating a network with a wide transnational partnership. The four central themes of the report are: project management, network activities, dissemination of results and monitoring and evaluation.
