Spanish position on the Fifth Framework ProgrammeFunded under: FP5
The Spanish views on the preparation of the Community's Fifth Framework Programme for research and technological development are put forward in the Spanish position paper, submitted as part of the consultation process during the drafting of the new Programme. The Spanish government calls for no major shifts in the current guidelines, but greater flexibility in the Fifth Framework Programme and that R&D priorities may be better focused to concentrate the effort. It is suggested that the main objectives of the Fifth Framework Programme should include economic and social cohesion as a significant contribution to reduce the international isolation of research groups of excellence in less favored regions. Other priorities envisaged are a sounded contribution to the competitiveness of EU industry as a whole, employment, protection of the environment and contribution to other EU policies.
