  • SMT, 1994-1998. Fifth call for proposals supporting document. Topic 21: Measurement of non-linear sources of electrical power used in the construction and/or measurement of apparatus for potentially explosive atmospheres

More detailed and more technical background information is given relating to this topic of the fifth call for proposals under the specific programme for standards, measurements and testing (SMT), 1994-1998. The proposed item has the following general aims:

- To define the current non-linear sources of electrical power currently used in electrical apparatus to be used in potentially explosive atmospheres;
- To measure and define the relevant electrical parameters of these non-linear sources;
- To study the influence of the environment in which the power sources are used;
- To make a lot of representative measurements of the identified parameters in all circumstances of use and to draft standard curves derived from these measurements;
- To draft a report describing the used methodology, the used power sources, the calibration of test gear and the resulting curves including all explanations for the use of these curves.

A time scale and expected result format are also described.
