ToolSust - Final Report, The involvement of stakeholders to develop and implement tools for sustainable households in the city of Tomorrow

Funded under: FP5

Abstract

ToolSust is a European Project with focus on potentials for sustainable development in European cities. It is financed by the EU fifth framework program for 2000 - 2003 within key action 4: City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage. It is a part of the program for Energy, Environment and Sustainable development.
The main objectives are linked to the relevance of consumption and consumers for a sustainable development in the cities. This is studied within frameworks created by public authorities and businesses, because consumption never takes place in a vacuum. The project has been developed along two dimensions:
- First and foremost we have tried to develop tools for sustainable development in European cities related to consumption
- Secondly we have carried out scientific research in the five actual cities to develop these tools and to evaluate and improve them. These results have scientific and political values beyond the development of tools.
