  • Policy relevance of 'Family and welfare' research: from papers presented at dialogue workshops held in Brussels on 31 January and 20 February 2003

This publication contains reworked versions of papers first presented at workshops held in Brussels in January and February 2003. It is based on work financed by the European Commission, Directorate General Research, under the Targeted Socio-Economic Research strand of Framework Programme 4 and the Key Action in Framework Programme 5: 'Improving Human Research Potential and the Socio-Economic Knowledge Base'.

A cluster activity on the theme 'Family and Welfare' was launched in 2001, aimed at creating synergy among 15 interrelated projects and networks addressing family life and welfare from different perspectives and using different methodologies. This initiative led to the organisation of a series of dialogue workshops at which project co-ordinators presented their programme of activities to policy makers and other users. This publication includes the main findings from the projects presented at the two dialogue workshops.
