EU-supported research on Migration 1995-2005

Funded under: FP6-CITIZENS

Research in relation to migration issues is an integral part of the European Union's programme for research in the social sciences and the humanities.
In the Fourth and in the Fifth EU Framework Programmes for research, the Directorate-General for Research of the European Commission supported a significant number of research projects that address directly issues of migration. This catalogue presents brief descriptions of these projects. Several other projects (not included in this catalogue) address issues of migration in a less direct manner. These collaborative endeavours ¿some of them currently in progress- involve a large number of research teams across the EU. They have produced important insights for policy formulation and have laid the foundations for significant research cooperation across Europe in this field.
The projects address a wide range of issues and demonstrate that migration is inextricably linked to core social, political and economic concerns such as housing, health, working life, youth, welfare, etc.
