Expert Advisory Group, Sixth Framework Programme, Position Paper, Mid term assessment FP6-TP3 Nanotechnology & Nanosciences Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials New Production Processes & Devices

Funded under: FP6-NMP

Abstract

TP3 unquestionably covers a broad spectrum of science, technology and industrial applications. Hence, a large number of potential issues were reviewed by the EAG. In addition to identifying important issues specific for TP3, a number of findings were common to those of other EAGs regarding general aspects of FP6. This report discusses the most important of the TP3 issues.
This position paper summarises the views of the Expert Advisory Group (EAG) for Thematic Priority Area 3 (TP3) - 'Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences, Knowledgebased Multi-functional Materials and New Production, Processes and Devices'.
The paper presents a mid-framework review of the work of the EAG and the latter's assessment of the evolution of TP3 and how well its objectives and challenges have been addressed. It focuses on those issues specific to TP3.
The advice represents the consensus view of the group. In the rare situations that a consensus could not be found, individual member's divergent views have been recorded.
Target groups for this document are those involved in the planning of EU programmes, the TP3 management and officers and more generally those involved in research in 'Nanoscience and nanotechnologies, Materials and Manufacturing' and its exploitation.
