Funded under: FP7

Abstract

The European Commission introduced its vision and guidelines for the 7th Research Framework Program (FP7) with the Communication "Science and technology, the key to Europe's future ¿ Guidelines for future European Union policy to support research", published June 16, 2004.
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft welcomes the Commission's suggestions for FP7. In order to reach the Lisbon objectives, it is of highest importance to at least double the actual research budget.
With around 350 successful projects so far, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft has been very successful in FP6. Through the experience in coordinating around 30 FP6-projects, thereof eight Integrated Projects, Fraunhofer can give an extensive feedback. With the following paper the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft would like to comment on some issues. The position extends the findings of the Marimón report of which Prof. Bullinger, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, was one of the authors.
