Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The Secretariat of the ESTEP Platform is operational since September 2006. The European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP) visualizes the research demand of the European Steel Sector in a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) for both European Commission and National Research Ministries. In 2006 more than one hundred people have worked towards implementing the priorities of the ESTEP SRA essentially both within the RFCS programme and the FP7. The RFCS priorities in annexe are from the document of the Info pack updated annually by the EU Commission. The FP7 priorities have been commented on by different people in their area of responsibility and experts of the European Commission.
Close links have been established with relevant platforms. In particular ESTEP participates in the Inter-platform working group set up by the Construction platform (ECTP) and a shared document is in preparation.
ESTEP has contributed to the production of the Lead Markets document launched by the European Commission by drawing up a document. The Platform has participated in the 3 seminars organized by the European Commission addressed at Platform Leaders.
A Mirror Group has been jointly launched by the European Commission and the ESTEP Secretariat which has identified its objectives, role and tasks and how it will be organized. The first meeting is foreseen for Spring 2007.
Finally ESTEP has participated at many national and international conferences organized by the other European and National Platforms and by related Associations for the priorities of its Strategic Agenda.
