Framework Programme VI: IST Priority, The 2006 Report on ICT for Enterprise Networking

Funded under: FP6-IST

50 years of European co-operation have brought many concrete benefits to Europeans in their everyday life, in their region, and in improving their rights. In particular, collaborative R&D has contributed to a large extent to the creation of a new sense of community, a new willingness and new commitment to shape the future together, a new recognition of the helpful role of public-private partnerships, a new readiness on the part of the vast majority of stakeholders to promote a dynamic and competitive European Research Area.
Over the last decades, R&D framework programmes have sent forth ripples of hope to build a current that could sweep down the mightiest walls of fragmentation and promote instead cooperation and 'unity in diversity'. Today, more than ever before, we need to show leadership and service to help strengthen Europe's future. That future depends on many things, but certainly one of the most important aspects of the strength of Europe's economy is the excellence of its research. Each of the projects funded by the European Commission is at the forefront of the ongoing movement to improve the European Reasearch Area, and consequently Europe's growth, competitiveness, and employability.
