Description of Topic GALILEO.2008.1.2.1, Use of EGNOS for Professional Applications: Fleet Management and Logistics Applications and High precision Applications including Agriculture

Funded under: FP7-TRANSPORT

Abstract

The objectives for the 2nd call, of the activity "exploiting the full potential", part of the sub-theme:
Support to the European Global Navigation Satellite System (Galileo), are:
[1] Stimulate adoption of EGNOS and EDAS;
[2] Prepare markets for Galileo introduction;
[3] Stimulate EU GNSS industry competitiveness.
The 1st call for this activity focused on several application areas with a high potential. In this 2nd call the scope is wider and covers a more diverse range of applications. The approach taken is broadly similar. However, the requirements have been updated.
This specific topic focuses on professional applications requiring high accuracy or signal availability. In particular, but not limited to:
- High precision applications including agriculture.
- Fleet management and logistics applications.
These applications have not been included in the first call. However, they are considered of strategic importance and are expected to be early adaptors of both EGNOS and Galileo.
We expect to fund 5-6 projects in each domain of a size similar to comparable projects in the 1st call. Note that the funding scheme, Collaborative Project, applies.
