Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

EU R&D publications, official documents and searchable databases

Projects

Searchable database of virtually all EU funded R&D projects since 1990

  • About the Projects database
    • This database contains details of individual research projects financed wholly or partly from the budget of the European Union. These projects are normally implemented through contractual agreements beween the European Commission and commercial organisations, research institutes, universities, or other bodies, as described in the project outline.
  • How is research project information submitted?
    • The content of each record in the database depends on the information made available to CORDIS from the Commission service responsible for administering the project. Occasional irregularities are progressively eliminated or reduced as a result of improvements in the data collection and updating process, and through the adoption of a common standard to be followed by all services involved.
Programmes

Searchable database of past and present EU R&D programmes

  • About the Programmes database
    • The CORDIS Programmes database contains summary information of EU programmes, both past and present, with relevance to research, development and innovation activities.

All 'Programme' records include the objectives, budget, and start and end dates, where available, along with a break-down of the types of activities funded and useful contacts. The information is extracted and edited from the official documents published to establish each programme. The database is searchable by subject area, acronym, framework programme, dates or keywords.

Each Programme is assigned a 'programme acronym' (PGA) that can also be used, for example, when searching for projects, results or news related to this source of funding.

Acronyms

Searchable database of acronyms and abbreviations in European R&D and related services

  • About the Acronyms database
    • RTD-Acronyms database contains a glossary of acronyms and other forms of abbreviations relevant to European Union research and technological development, technology transfer and other related activities. The source of the information held in the Acronyms database can be split into two categories:
Acronyms, added manually on a regular basis, explaining commonly-used general research-related terms (e.g. RTD, TIP, etc.)
Automatically-generated acronyms identifying RTD project titles and programme acronyms from the respective Projects and Programmes databases (e.g. INCO, IST, SAM, etc.)
Contacts

Searchable database of principal contact organisations in European R&D

  • About the Contacts database
    • The CORDIS Contacts database contains details of individuals who are able to provide information, advice, or assistance about EU research programmes and related matters. The contacts listed can provide help and information about many aspects of EU research: information about calls for proposals; help with partner searches; advice on preparing proposals or tenders; dissemination of results; patenting; financing of further development. Individuals nominated as contacts include:
Officials within the European Commission and other EU institutions responsible for developing or implementing EU research policies and for the day-to-day management of individual programmes
EU information agencies, and nominated contact persons for EU programmes at national level, such as the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) National Contact Points
European networks providing information, advice and assistance to SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Entreprises) and innovators (Innovation Relay Centres, Euro Info Centres etc.)
Contacts are classified according to their organisational function (such as FP7-National Contact Point, FP7-Programme Information Point, IRC-Innovation Relay Centre etc.). Each record relates to an individual performing a specified function within a given organisation; an individual performing various different functions in different organisations may appear in several records.

This service offers 'advanced' and 'professional' search facilities enabling you to narrow your search by using various criteria (e.g. country, programme etc.)
