Report on double skin composite construction for submerged tube tunnels
The European Commission, Directorate General XII, has recently published a report entitled "Double skin composite construction for submerged tube tunnels: Phase 3". The report is one in a series of ten which focus on properties and in-service performance in the field of technical steel research. "Double skin composite construction for submerged tube tunnels: Phase 3" is the final report of the ECSC Steel-Concrete-Steel Sandwich construction project. This report summarises the work carried out over the eight years during which the project was carried out. The authors conclude that their research shows that a design method can be suggested which could be used to check a range of Steel-Concrete-Steel structures for fatigue.
