The regulation of the GATA proteins and their role in haematopoietic differentiation

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

Research is focussed on the role of the GATA proteins in haemopoietic differentiation and the nervous system. A number of biochemical and biological systems are being developed. A number of high quality developments have occurred involving the following: role of GATAs in the developing nervous system established; GATA1/cyclins link established; GATA3 knockout. The project is moving closer to understanding the role of GATA and other proteins in globin gene expression. Greater understanding of the suppression of the embryonic and fetal genes could lead to novel approaches for the treatment of thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia.
