The European Commission Statistical Office has published a call for expression of interest to participate in the multiannual programme of studies, surveys and provision of services to be carried out in the field of Community statistics. The Commission wishes to receive services tenders relating to the programme it is initiating with respect to the socio-economic analysis of statistical data available at the time or to be collected over the medium term, and that of data collection through surveys of targeted populations (households, businesses, administrations, and so on), in response to specific invitations to tender. Implementation of the programme will comprise the following actions: - Development of classifications, methodologies and common definitions directly applicable in the Member States, supported by Community legislation; - Conducting of common statistical surveys on harmonized methodological bases; - Development and analysis of the Community's statistical results, including comparisons from country to country and region to region; - Distribution of statistical data (all technologies combined) and associated activities such as: promotion, marketing, production and reproduction of final products to be distributed; - Promotion of the convergence of national statistical practices based on common training actions; - Support for the development of the statistical systems of Community and non-Community countries through structural actions on the basis of exchanges of technology and experience between Member States and with third countries.
