ECU 7 million for URBAN projects in France
The European Commission has awarded ECU 7 million from the Structural Funds for urban regeneration projects in the northern French towns of Lille, Roubaix and Tourcoing. The funding is provided under the URBAN Community initiative and will supplement national government funding. The projects will address two priorities: - Encourage local people to help themselves improve their situations, by creating technology centres and training organizations; - Involve the local people in the rehabilitation of their surroundings and improvement of the local areas.
