Mid-Term Report Summary - QSPINMOTION (Quantum coherence and manipulation of a single flying electron spin)

Controlling nanocircuit at the single electron is at the heart of the "QSPINMOTION" project. It requires to displace a single electron in a nanostructures completly isolated from the other electrons. In this first period of the contract, we demonstrate two important milestones of the project : the long-range transfer of spin information using individual electrons and the quantum manipulation of two-electron spin states in isolated double quantum dot. All these developments put us in position to address the important question of the project : is it possible to displace an electron in a semiconductor nanostructure in keeping its quantum information and to use it in spin-based quantum computation protocols?
