AMFIS: Integrated multifunctional application oriented systems

The project concerns the design of single chip application specific integrated systems in advanced complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology, either fully compatible with mainstream digital very large scale integration (VLSI) or incorporating special process options for higher performance analog functionality. The target applications are in the areas of radiocommunications, energy and water management, industry process control and supervision, biomedical engineering, video-on-demand and general data acquisition. The techniques emphasise the design of key analog-digital (A/D) and digital-analog (D/A) functional building blocks that are needed to interface embedded digital microcontrollers and signal processing cores, including A/D and D/A converters, filters, controlled oscillators, amplifiers, among others. Such building blocks are available from a proprietary mixed analog-digital library and, upon request, can be easily customized to different target specifications as well as implementation technology.
