Periodic Reporting for period 1 - FlexiHyLift (A flexible hybrid forklift that utilizes advanced power technology and electronics to offer high performance and efficiency in both indoor and outdoor applications for the logistics industry.)

Reporting period: 2015-03-01 to 2015-08-31

Nexen’s FlexiHyLift project aims to develop a flexible hybrid forklift truck that uses advanced power technology and electronics to offer high performance and efficiency in both indoor and outdoor applications for the logistics industry. The Phase 1 feasibility project achieved the following as set out within the objectives.
Usage study: A usage study was conducted on locations that require both indoor and outdoor applications in different industry sectors to determine usage patterns. The output of this study has been used to develop the system specification for the further development of the FlexiHyLift forklift truck. In addition, a full market study was conducted to ensure that the system requirements adhere to the demands of the wider market in addition to those revealed in the usage study.

System Specification: We iterated the battery and engine parameters at least twice for the resultant forklift trucks based on the results of the usage study. The output is a system specification that will lead into our development within the Phase 2 project.

IP Audit: We conducted an IP audit in line with European and global distribution plans to specify the appropriate route to protection, strategic timings and the level of resource required for the FlexiHyLift project. This confirmed our freedom to operate and contains our IP strategy within the market.

Partner Search: We identified and engaged key supply chain partners to successfully and quickly bring the FlexiHyLift project to completion.
The above tasks have confirmed the market need for the FlexiHylift forklift. Nexen is therefore continuing with the development of the concept and proceeding to a full Phase 2 application.
