Mid-Term Report Summary - SIMONE (Single Molecule Nano Electronics (SIMONE))

The ERC funded project single molecule nano electronics, SIMONE seeks to develop parallel fabrication schemes for single molecule electronic devices. During the first 2.5 project years, the project has established protocols for the formation of proto-devices, that is advanced molecule-nanoparticle constructs that can be used as components in single molecule electronics applications. Advanced constructs made from dimers of single nanoparticles of two different materials has been used to sense hydrogen gases and derive thermodynamic parameters of hydrogen storage on the single nanoparticle level. Research is currently ongoing on how to integrate these proto-devices into functional single molecule based electronic circuitry.
