Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

Rapid Roll ISOGen from Renovagen intends to give access to electricity to the one in five people around the world that live without access to electricity. Rapid Roll ISOGen will address this problem by providing mobile, low-cost solar power capable of sustaining communities in a range of conditions. Renovagen conducted a full feasibility study on both commercial and technical aspects of the solution. It was summarised that the system requires further funding to develop the Rapid Roll ISOGen to be ready to be commercialised. This includes specific regulatory compliance and certification as a manufacturer. As a solar system it faces an uphill battle to achieve the necessary funding from venture capital or angel investors, as solar arrays are considered higher risk, with the majority of funding going to pico-devices of 10W generation or less.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

Both technical and commercial aspects of Rapid Roll ISOGen were investigated during the feasibility study including the technical requirements to build and MVP and the steps needed to get there, the future manufacturing and supply chain, a risk assessment and contingency plan, sizing the market opportunity and customer segments, establishing a commercialisation and creating 5 year financial predictions. The main result is that there is a high potential commercial opportunity with Rapid Roll ISOGen.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

Rapid Roll ISOGens main competitors are diesel generators and other solar solutions. However, for the applications that Rapid Roll ISOGen serves neither solutions are able to offer a stable power supply, superior mobility, clean energy, and toughness that Rapid Roll ISOGen does. All 4 are key factors in the critical application of Rapid Roll ISOGen.
