Discrete bIOimaging perCeption for Longitudinal Organ modElling and computEr-aided diagnosiS

Final Report Summary - DIOCLES (Discrete bIOimaging perCeption for Longitudinal Organ modElling and computEr-aided diagnosiS)

In this grant we have proposed a novel artificial intelligence framework for mining biomedical image content towards automatic interpretation and computer aided diagnosis. The proposed solution has advanced state of the arts methods in the fields of optimization, machine learning, data and biomedical engineering. We have introduced a novel modular, scalable, portable and computational efficient approach to extract image-based bio-markers seeking to improve diagnosis, choice of therapeutic strategy and treatment follow up assessment. Numerous theoretical developments of this effort have been or are in the process to become tools used in standard clinical practice like for example progression assessment in the context of neuro-degenerative diseases, novel means for real-time precise virtual biopsy or adaptive treatment planning solution for radiation therapy.
