Secure multiparty computation enables parties with private inputs to carry out joint computations on their input without revealing anything but the result. This has applications to privacy-preserving medical research and queries, private search, private statistics, computing on encrypted data, and more. The focus of HIPS is high performance secure computation, with the aim of achieving efficiency sufficient for real-world applications. HIPS has found new methods for secure computation that achieve very high efficiency, that go orders of magnitude beyond previous solutions. HIPS has considered numerous settings for multiparty computation, and has demonstrated that many real-world secure computations can be carried out efficiently. For example, it is possible to privately compute statistics at a large scale, without revealing anything but the aggregate result. The results in HIPS can be used to solve a wide variety of applications in the realm of privacy, in real-world settings.
