Research for the overall conception and integration of active and passive solar technology for the Debis headquarters at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin
The context of the work was to develop a double-skin facade in order to extensivelyreduce costs and energy consumption. The aim was to try to do so without an air-conditioning system and to manage instead with a support ventilation systemwhereby the air would be changed and cooled three times an hour. The double-skinfacade should, compared to a single-skin facade, fulfil the following additionalfunctions: pressure reduction (for prolonged window ventilation); wind and weatherprotection (for window ventilation); allow for passive solar energy use (to reducethe consumption of heating energy); offer improved sunlight use and improvedprotection against noise (with window ventilation).
