Application of new concepts for the development of gas-solid sorption machines.

This project is a follow-up of a previous project (JOU2-CT92-0238). These two projects aimed at developing a new generation of gas-solid sorption systems.

The utilisation of porous beds characterised by high heat and mass transfers could lead to a new rise of solid sorption machines (based either on the adsorption or the reaction of ammonia-salt or hydride types). The anisotropic character of such beds allows the conception of new reactors performing with a thermal wave, or the implementation of several reactive salts in a single reactor. Thus, systems can be designed involving a minimum of valves and regulations, and which leads to very simple cycle management.
