Properties of superstring theory

Superstring theory is still at an early stage. Although many interesting results have been obtained, much work remains to be done to achieve the goal mentioned above. Surprisingly, superstring theory turns out to have many connections with other parts of theoretical physics and mathematics. The project investigated the properties of superstring theory and these connections to other disciplines. Specific research topics were integrable models, hadronic strings, W symmetries and twistor formulations of superstrings. The teams from the FSU countries have performed research on integrable models (Lebedev institute, ITEP and Dubna), W symmetries (Dubna) and the Twistor Formulation of Superstrings (Kharkov). This research has resulted in a number of publications part of which have been completed in collaboration with collegues at research centers in West-Europe.
