The LORE Project

Above all, the Lore project aims at employing ICT (Information & Communication Technology) for the support of companies involved in organic waste treatment to become as an organic waste recycling enterprise, a pro-active player in the sustainable recycling economy.

Therefore, we cooperated with two end-users from Germany and Austria, who represent organic waste recyclers and who are organised as a distributed enterprise. Organisational learning will be initiated to create, manage and transfer knowledge assets (on new products, recyclable materials, possible markets, etc.) between and among the headquarters, the branches and business partners.

Consequently the system, which LORE has developed, will offer lots of benefits to all partners involved in an ICT supported learning enterprise structure, for instance, a higher transparency of the whole organisation including business partners and customers and quick information access from all levels of business. In addition, a high degree of experience exchange among employees of the enterprise and between business partners and customers is to be expected. Saving time and costs by decreasing the time needed to re-type business information at the different end-user sites and partners locations is another benefit the LORE system has to offer.

Besides this, the LORE project has developed a toolbox for implementing the learning organisation concept supported by ICT solutions in a distributed enterprise. The toolbox was realised as a prototype containing components such as a practical approach to define knowledge assets to be managed within the LORE system. This toolbox can be offered to distributed recycler firms as a package or in individual services in each of the items.

The LORE product is an intra-and inter-organisational information flow system, that could also be described as a software system.
