Uniform composition methodology for active documents

The COMPOST Java framework (COMPOSiTion system) enables a programmer to define component models for static software components (Java) and XML languages (XTHML and others), and runtime components (Java). Based on a generic component model, the UNICOMP set of interfaces; architectures of software and document artefacts can be written as composition programs, using the library functions of the framework. Since the component model is generic, and can be instantiated to new concrete component models, architectures can be reused. Hence, COMPOST's composition technology is truly uniform: it scales from design-time over compile-time and link-time to run-time. As such, COMPOST is the worldwide first framework the uniform composition of software and of active documents, documents that contain data and software.
