Know-how and specific software applications for hypertension management in modern-day telemedicine framework are readily deployable for both research and commercial applications

Know-how and specific applications for hypertension using remote home monitoring equipment is unique throughout the world. The knowledge of methods improving treatment effectiveness, bettering drug compliance and enhancing treatment related information exchange allows us to foster collaboration with other centres of hypertension research. Furthermore, the know-how of remote home monitoring of patients with hypertension straightforwardly expandable to related areas of cardiovascular disease.

The above results allow us to gain collaborative advantage in future research project as well as allowing us to increase treatment quality of current patients. Example of such collaboration is within the frameworks of FP5 project REALITY for the study of representative valuation of evolving remote home-based patient monitoring delivery for patients with diabetes, heart failure, COPD, asthma or hypertension. KINDHOME is a proposed IST Framework VI project, the formation of which has been lead by Philips Research. The proposed project is concerned with the delivery of health advice to home-based patients and the monitoring of home-based chronic disease sufferers using wireless sensor technology.
