Concept for Low-risk Efficient Area Reduction based on the Fusion of Advanced Sensor Technologies

Deliverables

The mosaicing and geo-referencing system allows to accurately acquiring image data and project these images onto a map. The mosaicing part allows creating larger images than the field of view of the camera. This system is important for creating overlays on maps and comparing/merging with other data (e.g. satellite or aerial survey data). Since the data is geo-referenced the results of optional processing is also geo-referenced and can be easily overlayed on the map. For example, the (expected) positions of the landmines may be indicated on a digital map or even a (geo-referenced) satellite photo of the area. The system consists of the following components: [1] GPS Positioning system [2] Time Synchronization Module [3] GPS Data Acquisition [4] Mosaics & Map Production Module [5] Co-registration The outputs of the system are a geo-referenced (high accuracy) image mosaics and image frames as well as co-registered images.
The System Operational Concept and Procedure is derived for the ClearFast demonstrator. This operational concept describes the methodology and concept for the minefield survey. Furthermore it describes the operational concept for the demonstrator and future ClearFast system. It clearly defines the end-user requirements of the system. As such, this operational concept and part of the operational procedure is also applicable to other stand-off minefield survey methods.
The ClearFast field measurements, environment/weather system allows to perform necessary measurements to estimate all the parameters for thermal modelling as well as provide the weather conditions needed for thermal modelling. This system is to be used in conjunction with the ClearFast image analysis and thermal modelling for characterisation of the thermal parameters (thermal diffusivity and depth) of the anomalies. The system, once set up acquires data automatically and transfers the data wireless to the acquisition computer. The system consists of the following components [1] Weather Station [2] Soil temperature probes [3] Data Logger [4] Computer. The output of this system provides the synchronised data necessary for thermal parameter estimation of the soil and the necessary meteorological measurements.
The ClearFast image analysis system is used for analysis of the multi-temporal infrared image data. The output of this system provides the location and properties of anomalies, i.e. areas that differ from normal behaviour. The system consists of the following components: [1] Co-registration [2] Anomaly Detection [3] Know-How guidelines The outputs of the system are: [1] Automatic Anomaly detection using temporal IR images, [2] Possibilities to characterize buried as well as surface laid objects.
