Understanding how different types of concrete ingredients affect the performance of super-plasticised concrete

The new polymers have improved compatibility with different cements compared to the state-of-the-art polymers available today. This will solve problems that occur with some cements, making the concrete mix design more robust. The new polymers can be used in SCC and (other) high performing concrete - which normally has a very low w/c-ratio. Many existing SPs have performance problems at very low w/c-ratio. The new polymers developed here overcome these limitations.

It was obvious from the results of the concrete testing carried out in the project that the method of mixing of the concrete had big impact on the admixture effect. These results will be published and also communicated to CEN. The results indicate a need for revision of the EN standard defining concrete admixture laboratory testing.
