Diffractive optic interfaces based on multilayer |M/MOx| composites

Devices comprising diffractive elements fabricated on multilayer metal/metal-oxide structures for interrogating the sensor functionality by means of alterations in the properties of the diffractive element.

Diffractive designs include simple linear gratings, computer generated holographic optics and Fresnel optics. Applications in sensing of physical and chemical parameters through the alteration of nanocomposite optical materials refractive properties. Other applications in photonic systems including switching among others.
