Training in seismic archive and re-use of seismic data

The SEISCANEX distributed facility is unique in providing free to use scanning and archiving. It was essential that facility users were introduced to the archive structure so that they could make effective decisions on how to handle their data on return to their host institutions. In addition a project objective was to enable users to convert their seismic images into digital seismic files for re-use and processing.

To this end the project designed 3 training schedules and documentation:
1. Introduction to UNIX & GMT for beginners,
2. Image management and archive,
3. SeisTrans data conversion.

These training sessions were offered freely with supporting funds for non and new EU member users. They were intended as a prelude to a user purchasing a software licence for installation at their home institution.

2 licences were sold:
University of Ghent

A total of 36 training sessions were run by the partners.
