Innovative cardiovascular monitoring device

A newly developed portable heart disease monitoring device, capable of measuring, storing and analyzing the patient's cardiovascular signature has been developed.
Innovative cardiovascular monitoring device
Nowadays cardiovascular disease is one of the primary causes of death in the Western World. A stressful lifestyle, along with fatty food and lack of exercise are a few of the many factors considered to be responsible for cardiovascular diseases. Monitoring of the heart's health status can aid to the timely diagnosis of any cardiovascular disorder and save lives. Yet, visiting medical experts frequently may affect the patient's way of living tremendously.

To answer this need, a UK-based company has developed a portable heart monitoring system that is electronically controlled. This electrocardiogram (ECG) device can be easily fitted to patients by a medical expert and worn for extended periods of time unlike a standard ECG device. Once the device is fitted, it measures, stores and processes the cardiovascular signature of the patient. Thereby, it can be used to record the medical status of the subject's heart, building up a medical file that can be analysed further by a medical specialist.

Operated by low cost battery, it is easy to use and very light which offers increased comfort to the patient. The developed prototype has undergone a complete field testing, is CE-marked and holds a US FDA 510(k) certificate. The company offers a license for the intellectual property of the device to any industrial partner interested in bringing this product into market. Either the whole product or the related neural network algorithms may be provided in case the partner wishes to integrate this into its own ECG products.
