Innovative hip flexion measuring

A novel device for measuring hip flexion has been developed.

The device is an improvement for the methods used for measuring hip flexion up to now. It is designed to measure the flexibility of the ischiotibial muscles during flexion of the hip and it consists of two mobile arms that rotate around a pivot point.

The top of the device measures the angle reached by the mobile arms as they move. The mobile arms follow the leg's motion while the hip flexion movement occurs. One arm stays in the highest fixed position obtained at the end of the motion and then the angle-measuring support shows the degrees that were reached.

The device can be easily introduced into the medical industry since it's easy to use and inexpensive. Also, patients are not required to perform difficult exercises in order to measure the flexibility of the ischiotibial muscles during hip flexion. The device is suitable for sport, biomechanical, medical and physiological evaluation equipment. The research group is seeking license agreement and technical co-operation.
