A natural substance for losing weight

A newly developed technique uses thioproline, a natural, completely antioxidant substance, for preparing treatments to reduce weight without causing any adverse health effects.
A natural substance for losing weight
One of the most common health problems in the Western world is obesity, which is related to many health disorders, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Urged by either health reasons or simply because of aesthetics, overweight is an undesirable feature that is often treated using appetite suppressor drugs, as coadjutant treatments. These may either cause collateral harmful side effects, or their effectiveness may be decreased after a certain time period.

To answer this need, an Andalusian research group developed an innovative procedure for treating weight loss by employing the thioproline molecule. This antioxidant substance is natural, easy to get and induces no undesirable side effects as it was shown in rat experiments. Researchers found that thioproline, in the form of salts and pro-drugs may reduce corporal weight when introduced in diets with a low caloric intake because it allows decrease of appetite.

Thiopropoline is normally found in human organism as a metabolite of a series of natural molecules and it could be easily detected in urine. Despite the fact that it has been already extensively used by many chemical industries, this research work demonstrated that it is not hazardous. Due to its related caloric restriction effect, it has the potential to reduce weight considerably without causing any abnormal collateral effects.

This molecule can find useful applications in weight reduction and in appetite treatments, by either therapeutic or cosmetic means. Moreover, it may constitute an effective anti-ageing treatment that extends the life expectancy frame, while it improves normal ageing effects. Industrial partners within the field of pharmaceutics, cosmetics companies, and particularly nutraceutics are sought for license agreement or technical co-operation.
