International conference on women in industrial research
The promotion of women in industrial research will be the subject of an international conference to be held on 10 and 11 October in Berlin, Germany.
The European Commission and the German ministry of education and research are organising the event, and will present the results of a European study entitled 'women in industrial research: a wake up call for European industry'.

Expressions of Interest
The Commission invited expressions of interest (EoI) in the field of Science & Society between 1 April and 2 June 2003. The aim was to provide an opportunity in the first year of the programme for researchers and other interested parties to come forward with ideas that could be included in future editions of the work programme. The work programme for 2004, taking account of the submissions received, will be published towards the end of 2003. In the meantime, the results of the EoI exercise are now available.
Debate launched on the Role of universities in the knowledge-based Europe.
