Description

Objective: Why? What problem it is solving? Objectives? How will they be achieved? What results are expected? Due to the continuous improvement in healthcare the average life expectancy of people with intellectual disabilities is steadily rising. This creates new needs in relation to training of personnel, housing facilities and the role and needs of caregivers. In order to anticipate on these needs comprehensive research has to be undertaken. To enhance the efficiency of such research all stakeholders can best define the topics? It is therefore proposed to organise a EU-wide conference in which experts participate representing research institutions, the care sector and people with disabilities. The major outcome will be developed relevant research topics. A comprehensive overview will be made of the new demands that care systems in the EU will have to face. This overview will be of use for future policy for older people with intellectual disabilities.
