Description
Objective:
PACT (PUBLIC PERCEPTION OF SECURITY AND PRIVACY: ASSESSING KNOWLEDGE, COLLECTING EVIDENCE, TRANSLATING RESEARCH INTO ACTION) is a 36 month collaborative project, which aims:
1) To assess existing knowledge about public perception of the tension between security and privacy and the role played by social trust and concern;
2) To collect empirical evidence about the way in which European citizens perceive and assetss in real life novel surveillance technologies;
3) To analyze the main factors that affect public assessment of the security and privacy implications of given security technology.
On the basis of such an investigation, the project will develop and validate a prototype Decision Support System, which may help end users to evaluate pros and cons of specific security investments also on the basis of the societal perception of privacy and liberty.
