Conference to address sustainable development of the Mediterranean and Black Sea environment
An official event organised in the framework of the Greek Presidency.
Thessaloniki, Greece, 29 May - 1 June 2003
The event aims to identify common environmental problems in the two regions for which research is still needed.
There will also be an overview and analysis of sustainable development activities under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6), particularly in the field of marine science and technology.
It is expected that the conference will promote interaction and exchange of ideas and know-how between researchers, end users and policy makers within the marine environmental sectors in the eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea region and contribute to the establishment of new networks.
The conference is being organised by the national centre for marine research (NCMR) in Greece, the institute for marine biology of Crete (IMBC), the university of Crete and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in co-operation with the European Commission, Directorate-General of Research.
The conference is open for participation.
