This report investigates the behaviour of the two control laws developed within the project. It considers a platoon of vehicles which cannot overtake, on a one lane motorway.
The scope is to identify through simulations whether the control laws are platoon stable and to evaluate what the potential effects on traffic and on safety could be.
The document comprises a description of the simulator used in the experiment, a quick description of the control strategy used and analysis of the results.
Even if similar, the control laws implemented in the simulator are not precisely the real ones installed on the vehicles and they are not the best control laws which can be designed, rather they are one realisation of a common strategy of control ; nevertheless this approach allows us to understand what are the potential benefits of the strategy and to evaluate which strategy parameter can influence the performances of the system.
